Abstract   HTML   PDF (209KB)
In this paper, we propose a class of higher-order stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with branching noises. The existence of weak (mild) solutions is established through weak convergence and tightness arguments.

Abstract   HTML   PDF (166KB)
In this paper, a class of generalized Verma modules M(V) over some Block type Lie algebra B(G) are constructed, which are induced from nontrivial simple modules V over a subalgebra of B(G). The irreducibility of M(V) is determined.

Let (?0,g0) be a flat G2-structure on the torus T7 . For a certain finite group ?-action on T7 preserving the G2-structure, Joyce constructed aclosed G2-manifold M from the resolution of the orbifold T7/?. The main purpose of this paper is to prove that there exist global coassociative fibrations on open submanifolds of certain Joyce manifolds.

Abstract   HTML   PDF (104KB)
Let H and T be subgroups of a finite group G. H is said to be permutable with T in G if HT = TH. In this paper, we use the concept of permutable subgroups to give two new criterions of supersolubility of the product G = AB of finite supersoluble groups A and B.

Asymptotic analysis of a coupled nonlinear parabolic system

Front. Math. China. 2008, 3 (1): 87-99.
https://doi.org/10.1007/s11464-008-0002-4

Abstract   HTML   PDF (157KB)
This paper deals with asymptotic analysis of a parabolic system with inner absorptions and coupled nonlinear boundary fluxes. Three simultaneous blow-up rates are established under different dominations of nonlinearities, and simply represented in a characteristic algebraic system introduced for the problem. In particular, it is observed that two of the multiple blow-up rates are absorption-related. This is substantially different from those for nonlinear parabolic problems with absorptions in all the previous literature, where the blow-up rates were known as absorption-independent. The results of the paper rely on the scaling method with a complete classification for the nonlinear parameters of the model. The first example of absorption-related blow-up rates was recently proposed by the authors for a coupled parabolic system with mixed type nonlinearities. The present paper shows that the newly observed phenomena of absorption-related blow-up rates should be due to the coupling mechanism, rather than the mixed type nonlinearities.

Abstract   HTML   PDF (115KB)
A group G is said to be a T-group (resp. PT-group, PST-group), if normality (resp. permutability, S-permutability) is a transitive relation. In this paper, we get the characterization of finite solvable PST-groups. We also give a new characterization of finite solvable PT-groups.

Gilmore-Lawler bound of quadratic assignment problem

Abstract   HTML   PDF (124KB)
The Gilmore-Lawler bound (GLB) is one of the well-known lower bound of quadratic assignment problem (QAP). Checking whether GLB is tight is an NP-complete problem. In this article, based on Xia and Yuan linearization technique, we provide an upper bound of the complexity of this problem, which makes it pseudo-polynomial solvable. We also pseudo-polynomially solve a class of QAP whose GLB is equal to the optimal objective function value, which was shown to remain NP-hard.

Adaptive nonmonotone line search method for unconstrained optimization
ZHOU Qunyan, SUN Wenyu
Front. Math. China. 2008, 3 (1): 133-148.
https://doi.org/10.1007/s11464-008-0001-5

Abstract   HTML   PDF (178KB)
In this paper, an adaptive nonmonotone line search method for unconstrained minimization problems is proposed. At every iteration, the new algorithm selects only one of the two directions: a Newton-type direction and a negative curvature direction, to perform the line search. The nonmonotone technique is included in the backtracking line search when the Newton-type direction is the search direction. Furthermore, if the negative curvature direction is the search direction, we increase the steplength under certain conditions. The global convergence to a stationary point with second-order optimality conditions is established. Some numerical results which show the efficiency of the new algorithm are reported.
