Abstract The effects of air jet impinging on the mass transfer characteristics from a rotating spinning cylinder surface were experimentally investigated. The effects of rotational Reynolds number"Graphic", jet-exit Reynolds number "Graphic", the nozzle width-to-cylinder diameter ratio "Graphic", and the ratio of the distance between nozzle exit and the front of cylinder to nozzle width "Graphic" on the mean "Graphic" were determined. The phenomena of the first and second critical point was analyzed and validated. On the basis of experimental data, the correlation equation was obtained.
